Tekken: Dark Resurrection was not only the best fighter to ever hit the PlayStation Portable, it is still considered one of the top games to hit Sony’s portable.

The arrival of Tekken 6 on the PSP could only mean great things, right?

Loved
Graphics: The PSP version of Tekken 6 is a surprisingly attractive game. The portable version does cut a few corners, for instance there’s no option to turn on blur, but overall it’s a sharply detailed game.

Controls: With four face buttons and two shoulder buttons and a snappy directional pad, the PSP is a perfect match for the Tekken series. Each face button controls a limb of your fighter and the heavy reliance on single direction controls for special moves makes pulling off attacks on the PSP a breeze.

Tekken 6 for PSP has now been dated for release across EMEA and PAL Asia on December 11th.

The killer stocking filler is on its way as NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe announces that development is complete on TEKKEN™6 for PSP, with the game hitting retailers across EMEA and PAL Asia on 11th December. Containing all the bone-crushing, over-the-top excitement of its big brothers released on Xbox 360® and PlayStation®3 in October, plus ad-hoc wi-fi versus battling, TEKKEN 6 for PSP lets players fight for the status of TEKKEN god whenever and wherever they choose.

In addition to containing all 18 battle stages and 40 playable characters in the home console version of TEKKEN 6, the PSP game also supports ad-hoc multiplayer versus battles fought across four additional stages. Battle modes include Arcade, Story, Ghost, Challenge and Practice, while the ad-hoc wi-fi features include the ability to send and receive ghost data allowing fights against opponents’ characters even when not connected with them.

Katsuhiro Harada speaks about the possibility of new downloadable content for Tekken 6.

Katsuhiro Harada has told PlayStation Europe that “There is a strong possibility we will. However, even if we were to do so, it would be free to the end user.” when asked about additional download content from PlayStation Store.

Article only talked about PS3 and PSP versions, so no news of any XBOX360 downloadable content (I want a Jin Hoodie for my avatar!). Nothing else groundbreaking was talked about in the interview, but it was still a fun read.

Footage from the PSP release of Tekken 6. Surprisingly looks “quick”, but this could be from some super-charged development PSP environment.

First impressions, it looks like a more “filled” version of tag. I haven’t played my copy of Tekken 5:DR for PSP in a while, but for some reason I want to say that this looks more fluid and less clunkier than Tekken 5:DR. Additionally, I want Gold Rush! Please tell me that it’s not in Tekken 6 console release, or I’ll look pretty stupid right about now.
