I never though that I would be posting the following information. Some how this is feeling like an MMO update announcement, what with the update details and release date. Anyhow, here is what Namco Bandai have said:
NAMCO BANDAI Games today released further details about the forthcoming free downloadable update designed to improve the online game experience for players of TEKKEN™6 on Xbox 360™ and PlayStation®3. The update is scheduled for release on 26th November.
The update is separate from the online co-op Scenario Campaign mode download which is scheduled for release separately this winter.
Online gameplay enhancements in the update include the following:
• Improved input response: improvement of the game’s responsiveness to button / command inputs;
• Selectable search priorities for ranked matches: players will be able to set search priorities for opponents in ranked matches based on comparable rank or connection quality as well as location;
• Optimized data transmission between fighters and spectators: fight data will be optimized in order to reduce the bandwidth load on the host’s console;
• Signal strength bars: the signal strength bar will reflect connection quality more accurately;
• Chance to cancel match: players will be able to cancel the match before it begins once the opponent’s signal strength has been displayed on ranked matches.

5 = Almost Megalo Quality, as good as online gets.
4 = Laggy Megalo, still good but you gonna adjust.
3 = Still playable, but good luck breaking grabs.
2 = Is about what Online USE to be. Although I've gotten quiet good at playing like this lol.
1 = Unplayable.
Since you get the option to cancel, I'd play at numbers 3+.
Also u can cancel matches before they start if the connection is shit. But yeh, very good patch, but its still a luck draw whether u get someone from aus. Sure u can keep canceling till u do but it might be ages before u get a match. up to you really.
However this is good news for casuals (play match) seeing as u can play ur buddies and we're all from aus. Eg me rarno, ravenboy in a player match room would run extremely smooth.
