I was directed to this comment in response to the statement ""if it is true you get the rest of the team involved in editing the review script, I find it hard to imagine anybody who hasn't played the game would be able to offer any insight other than the generic comment that could pretty much apply to any game. This is why people are concerned the review quality will drop, because we want you to tell us something about a game we haven't heard 100 times before.":

Well our whole team are gamers, so everyone likes to ask questions even if they haven't played the game, which promotes discussion, know what I mean? Last week we had an extra long production meeting, and I think our reviews were better for it tonight so it's something we're gonna keep doing. It's really not that hard to play every game we have on the show at least a little bit, and that's something hex and I are focusing on so we can get used to each other, and get a more rounded perspective. It's not that big a deal imo, it's the way most magazines and websites work, so I'm told from the few I know who work there. Please let us know if you think a reveiw is crap, we live for your banter. This thread has gone of the rails a bit tho, Bajo out!

Source

So that would explain how mixed that review was.

Wow.. Dracover just posted the following over at the GoodGame forums.
Can you say worked? Basically summed up everything I was thinking, but couldn't remember to put down when posting this story.

I'm new to this show and use to just pick episodes with reviews of games I wanted to know about. This week was the first I just sat down and watched through a whole episode.

Someone please tell me if I should expect this quality of reporting going forward because if so maybe I should quit now.

1. Did either of you either play the game online? Online play in this game is so bad you cant even do any parrys ducks etc yet and I quote "mastering the subset moves like blocking, parrying, juggles is key to winning a round especially online". Even on the best quality connection the game has at least 0.5-1 sec delay.
2. No mention of the ranking system.
3. The locker makes it difficult to hit enemies? How is it any different to WoW. You can tab between enemies like tab in WoW I dont see the difference.
4. "cancel a move to stop a punch"? What cancel? Tekken doesnt have cancels what are you talking about?
5. You use bob as an example of safe character? Ever heard of Steve?
6. Aoe attacks by Azazel? This isn't WoW what aoe attacks. I assume you mean tracking moves.
7. The campaign intro movie is long. I agree but you also say you didnt get the story. Maybe watching it through would tell you what the whole things about?
8. You dont have to play through it 42 times to get all the items you could just play the normal game and get gold which is the main point of a fighting game to start with.
9. The review focuses on the scenario mode a bit yet its merely a mini game when the main game is the actually fighting gets little review in comparason (the main discussion of anything technical comes from the project head).
10. Fianlly in all the images from the game there was nothing to show anyone bothered to actually learn to play the game a bit it was all mashing buttons could explain some of the comments.
